25 Years of Excellence in the Arts

25 Years of Excellence in the Arts, presented by the Green Valley High School Performing Arts Department.  This will take place on Monday, April 25, at 7 PM, in the amazing SMITH CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS.

There will be performances by the band, choir, orchestra, theatre dance, and guitar.  We are so excited to showcase these wonderful students and to embrace the legacy left by so many of our amazing alumni. The tickets are only $15 and are available by going to the link below.  Looking forward to this amazing evening–hope to see you all there!!

Today your senior met with Mr. Greenberg during their English class to discuss graduation procedures. They were given a packet of information to bring home to you.  The packet is also posted here and additional graduation information will be posted on our web site as June 7th draws near.

Tomorrow, April 20th, Jostens will be at GV during both lunches to distribute caps and gowns to seniors who have already placed orders.

All graduates will receive 10 tickets with their cap & gown and up to 5 additional tickets (per graduate) may be requested by CLICKING HERE.

Green Valley Wins Fifth State Championship

The Green Valley Wrestling team capped of the the 2016 season by winning their fifth consecutive state title.  The Gators scored 130½ points to hold off Spanish Springs, which finished with 107½ points. Arbor View was third with 95½ points, followed by Shadow Ridge (85) and Bishop Gorman (74).  State Placers were: Desmond Bowers-3rd; Adrian Ojeda-1st; Dylan Warr,-4th; Robert Razo-1st, Cade Van Orden-4th, Jordan McAfee-4th, and Anthony Valenti-2nd.

The team worked hard on and off the mat this year.  Since August of 2015 a total of 43 Green Valley wrestlers have come together and served their community. They amassed an impressive 125+ hours volunteering.  The team serve over 930 meals to less fortunate people in Southern Nevada.  The most interesting and rewarding aspects of the Community Service Program was seeing everyone—the kids, the coaches, the families and friend in unfamiliar scenarios and what we all learned from this experience.

Dear Parent or Guardian:

We are asking you to complete the 2016 Parent/Guardian Survey now through Thursday, June 2, 2016. This survey will provide our school with valuable feedback that informs our decisions on important school-related topics. Your input is very important to us. You may complete one Parent/Guardian Survey for each child attending a CCSD school. For example, in a two-parent family with three children enrolled in CCSD schools, each parent can take the survey three times (up to a total of six surveys completed).

The Parent/Guardian Survey will be available online via the Internet. If you do not have computer/Internet access, you may use a computer at our school or any one of the following locations to complete the Parent/Guardian Survey:

  • CCSD Administrative Center, 5100 West Sahara Avenue, Las Vegas
  • CCSD Curriculum & Professional Development Building, 3950 South Pecos-McLeod, Las Vegas
  • CCSD Edward Greer Education Center, 2832 East Flamingo Road, Las Vegas
  • 5240 Goldfield Street, North Las Vegas (Mojave HS campus)
  • 2298 Vegas Valley Drive, Las Vegas (Valley HS campus)
  • 4760 West Desert Inn Road, Las Vegas (Cashman MS campus)
  • CCSD Schools
  • Public Libraries

Instructions for completing the 2016 Parent/Guardian Survey Online:

  1. Open any Internet browser (Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc.).
  2. Type http://ccsd.net/district/surveys in the address bar.
  3. Follow the directions provided to complete the Parent/Guardian Survey. Note: You will need the student ID (lunch) number and your child’s birthdate to access the Parent Survey for each child attending CCSD schools in your home.

Your time and assistance in providing this information are greatly appreciated. If you would prefer a paper copy of the 2016 Parent/Guardian Survey, please request one from our school. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call the Research Department at 702-799-1041.

Christa Fialkiewicz Wins Heart of Education Award

Christa Fialkiewicz AwardCongratulations to Green Valley High School teacher Christa Fialkiewicz for winning one of the Heart of Education Awards Saturday, May 7 at the Smith Center!

Clark County School District Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky said he hopes the Heart of Education awards will generate a positive feeling toward education in the community.

Out of the more than 800 nominated Clark County School District educators, 21 finalists received a medal, a check for $5,000 and a $1,000 school donation that allows each finalist to choose which club or department receives the money.

Green Valley had several nominees to be proud of: Mark Drakulich, Scott Ginger, Erin Hill, Eric Johnston, Diane Koutsulis, Kimberly Ritzer, Kathryn Skjei, Jennifer Tuttle and Erica Wright.

Congratulations to Grade A Vending for winning the Nevada Business Plan Competition and are the recipients of a $1000 cash prize! In addition, On Point Embroidery was awarded 2nd place and received a $500 cash prize.

Speech & Debate Team Earns Two 1st Place Sweepstakes Awards

Green Valley High School’s Speech and Debate Team earned two first-place sweepstakes awards by capturing both the CCSD Tournament and the Nevada State Championships.  This is the 15th State title for the Gators and the 22nd consecutive County championship.

Individual State champions include Chace Avecilla and Conrad Palor in Public Forum debate; Asheton Stoever and Milena Palor in duo interpretation; and Asheton Stoever in humorous interpretation.

Earning individual first place honors at County are the following ForensiGators: Chace Avecilla, Conrad Palor, Frankie Colosimo, and Kiko Demetriou in Public Forum; Gargi Pandey in Lincoln-Douglas debate; Milena Palor and Asheton Stoever in Duo Interpretation; Asheton Stoever in humorous interpretation; and Rohini Mandal in International Extemporaneous.

The Gators are currently preparing for their upcoming national qualifying tournament. They have qualified students to nationals every year since 1994.

GVHS Choir Performs on USS Missouri & Sweeps Festival Hawaii

The GVHS Choirs earned 1st Place Gold Awards for Women’s Choir (Bella Voce), Men’s Choir, Concert Choir, Madrigal Singers and Green NV!! They also received the Choir Sweepstakes Award, Outstanding Choir Award (Madrigals) and 2 Adjudicator Awards( Concert Choir and Madrigals). Two of our talented students received “Maestro Awards” for their outstanding solo performances.

It was a wonderful day and the kids are so proud that their hard work and dedication to their groups.
